    Birds Eye View Thread

In honor of Trashman, who started it off, let's do another Birds Eye View Thread.

Drums: same old 1969 Ludwig Jazzette with matching 1963 Jazzfest
    Cymbals: Craig Lauritsen 14" kontro hats (911/1014g), 20" turk minibell (1991g), 22" kontro (2489g)

Or sometimes it is the old As

    14" hats (trans stamp 620g over 60s 1120g), 18" trans LSR (1560g), 20" small stamp (1975g)

And sometimes I mix it up, like the 18" trans as an LSR with the Lauritsens, or the 20" small stamp as an LSR with the Lauritsens. They all play nicely together.

So what are you playing these days?

Damn, it's great to be back!

Here's a Bird's Eye of my suitcase rig, which I've been gigging and rehearsing with more than any of my regular outfits.

That's an LP Stanton Moore pandeiro in the snare position, a Remo TablaTone frame drum in the tom position, and 12" 60's A's for cymbals. Don't always have to tape the cymbals up like that, but in this room I definitely needed to tame them down.

And if any of you dudes or dudettes cares, HERE'S how she sounds in action. Everything in this clip is completely acoustic, save for the bass guitar. First time running through that one, so please excuse all the flubs and vocal beefs.

Thank you Patrice and Chad for getting us back up and running!

    Ryno!,

    Nice to see you again!
    Super Groovy kit, too.
Loved the sound file, although the "snare" seemed a bit on the hot side.

Sounds pretty good to me, Ryno. And your minimalist take (along with a certain bikini kit from DCman) provides a counterpoint to some massive displays of bronze shown earlier. So does everything pack up in the suitcase?

And thank you all for helping us feel at home again. Keep 'em coming.

    Hey Steve!

So glad to be back here! This is soooooo home base!

Not everything packs up in the suitcase, but I'm also rockin' a modified Ludwig canister throne that I picked up from Revival Drum Shop in Portland, OR, while on tour last month. Between the suitcase and the canister throne, I can comfortably fit everything I need to gig. Here's a peek at what that looks like in a gig situation.

Thanks for the warm welcome back and I'm super happy to see black and orange again!

    Cheers,
    Ryan
