from yesterday´s wedding gig: "my ballroom set" that covers everything from Ragtime to Sinatra to EW&F to Latin to Eurodance. Of course I could play all that with less, but since I´ve got these things lying around at home...

I had the best seat in the house being very close (practically under " the bar

Did you use the three gongs hanging behind the kit?

The kit is an rb kit--I had a few threads about it, but long story short, Precision rewrapped to period specs (thanks to Bill Maley) in burgundy/merlot sparkle. Earthtones on top Remo coated on bottoms. This was a quintet gig (guitar and sax). I generally play st. Ahead/ small combo stuff ( though I play a lot of gospel stuff as well) but this sax player likes to be funky, so he called a couple of standards in odd meters and odd styles, but--whatever--people were dancing. It was a restaurant/supper club style gig. Yes, I had no space--I had to lower the cymbal to a much shorter height to avoid some molding design on the wall, but it worked. Re: the kit, I SWEAR by some sort of animal on the batter side (I've played both goat and calf on both a 120 anniv. And a round badge Gretsch, and on both ocassions, musicians, audience members, and drummers have come up to me to RAVE about the drum sound.) animal skin just tunes up so easy and really fails into place. These drums sound SOOO good; it's crazy! I'm happy as all heck with this kit--just JONESING for a 22". Keep me in mind, fellas.

First I tried to play some “gongman inspired“ pieces on them during our break. But the brides mother brought to my attention, that she wasn't too pleased with my idea... so I only used them for the hells bells intro after that !
