    I think years of Gretsch fever have driven up the prices for Ludwig and especially Slingerland. You can't find a $500 Slingerland 4 piece on eBay these days...they tend to go for around $800-1200. It's nuts. I'd say both those Ludwigs are reasonably priced...Ludwig demand is high right now for a lot of reasons, and eBay and all those pawn/auction/storage locker shows have nearly obliterated the days of finding the "steals". Newspaper classifieds have been killed by Craigslist. Sellers are better informed than ever and you generally just have to look for motivated Craigslist sellers and ebayers who can't spell...the rest is dumb luck.
