Has anyone else had this happen to them while playing a K? You're swinging along at a fairly high volume, shankin', spankin' and crashin'... and all of a sudden it sounds like there is a voice screaming out from within the mix.
I've had that happen a number of times while I'm riding along, thinking someone is yelling for me from upstairs only to find out no one is home.
Wierd.

Well. funny you should mention that..
Just want to say last evenings 'gig' yes it was a job let's call it a gig. was a big enough room. Loud enough that I was on both the 18 and 20 with the butt end of the stick. Totally opened up cymbals. Picture crashing a cymbal and ride-holding it there.
Didn't hear any voices. they hung tight to the draw; held their own; reached a level and stayed there. neat, thanks.

Did mention I was using the butt end of the sticks on old Ks all night long ? ok thanks carry on.
Plan on attacking the 22s next with same technique figure they may get louder

Wierd.
Several times....but never consistently. I've had it happen at home the most...practicing....will be playing heavy, driving...into this or that, and the scream comes in or the voice....
scares the hell out of me every time....

when i lay the stick into a pie ... i always hear some screamin'

Not something limited to old Ks. Weird midrange tones, from a purely sonic point of view, that sudeenly come up while riding happen with a lot of the more complex sounding cymbals.
I usually try to find another playing spot on that cymbal.

My Ks routinely scream for me to hand my sticks to someone who can really play...
