You clearly haven't looked at an itemized hospital bill lately if this is where you think the max is.

    It's a beauty.
    I wouldn't call it stupid.
There's plenty of stupid out there.
    Late 65-into 66 set.
Charging to ship it is a little irritating
as if these recent asking prices - or any any asking price for a used item- are set in stone they are not.
Free Ship would be a little nod courtesy/discount to whomever -is thinking of buying it. A little sweet'ner.
    Little sour without it.

One guy starts to ask 13,000$ for these kits. The next guy who sees that asks 14,000 then everyone thinks they are worth that.
yea. Like actual sell price is probably 6500-4000

Only drummers that can afford those in the Reverb auction are Charlie Watts league drummers.

    (ha..
If you've a spare 20K to spend on drums; your likely profession- was not drumming- (ha) and if you have that kind of money and the drums are your hobby/sideline-

You buy a set of 4000$ Pearls or DW and set them up in the living room next to your 'play-along' earphones and speakers where you fantasize being a rock star. And not even consider wretched old jazz drums.

So I don't know who this guy-and the others like him- are advertising to.

I do kind of know who.

But those guys usually have 112$ in their bank account.
And an imagination the size of a Mack truck.

Questions is...you make an offer for 10 grand--does he accept it on the spot or counter?

I need to know, but obviously I also need you all to find out for me.

Why can't you do it/ find out . That is; he'll probably take it.

We should place bets on whether he does or doesn't.

Are you ready to make that Bid Augustus?
Go ahead they'll always be worth 6000$ and you'll have owned played them for years

I think you better offer 98-9900. Doesn't the FBI look into cash transactions over 10K?
    I think they do...

O you mean Is it Instant Sale? if he accepts it..

Anyone here that familiar with Reverb? I think Ebay takes your bet as a Sale immediately.

but you could probably still back out..somehow (pull plug on computer
    Unless it's immediate withdrawal (Lol!
only difference between that set and a new one are the edges on the toms and all the metal- all of it- was Made in America.. and the wood 'has mellowed"..

This 1968 also Gretsch also vintage will hang right with the 20 grand one. imo.

    add pedals sticks and stands.
    bags and a gig.
    and this all gets boring

5k a drum is steep! Supply and demand will dictate the price......in this case the supply is low and I'm really not sure of the demand ....
to be certain It is the grail bop KIT from that era.....well maybe dressed in white marine pearl it would be.
I'm pretty sure 9 out of 10 jazz drummers wouldn't mind having it. Could be 10 out of 10!
Can't really blame him for for trying. I hope he gets it!

    JP is right

JP of the East has spoken! And I agree with him. The guy can do whatever he wants with the motha fathas! I have to say, if I get another Gretsch kit, I am going to get burgundy sparkle. Love that finish and I will say hi to Mel Lewis in the sky every time I play them. However, I am not hunting.

That said, I am proud to be in the player, not collector, demographic. If I wanted a kit like the one in this ad, I would hunt for two RB orphans. A 12 and a 14. And then I would buy a more recent 18 inch bass. Then, when no one was looking I would have Precision re wrap the Koggg Zingas in burgundy sparkle. Then I would drop a hunna dolla on a bass drum round badge. And it would look like Donny B was playing a pimped out grail kit. That would be good enough for me!

If I was rich and had money coming out of my kazoooooti, I still would not pay no 20 large for this kit. Instead, I would go cuckoo and buy a heapin' helpin' o' K isties! Capeeeeshie?

Boys, Donny B may be CRAZY, but he ain't stoooopid!
