I just scored a set on Ebay for $120 shipped. They seem to be what I'm looking for, by the description, for playing in church and stuff like that.

My question: Did I get a decent deal? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That seems pretty fair to me. Istanbuls can be hit and miss, but if you get good ones they can really be great.

Buying pies on eBay is scary because you don't get to hear them in person. It seems like Bosphorus is a safe bet, since they seem to have about the best quality control of all handmade cymbal-makers, from what I've heard. But I bet your Istys will be good.

I was gonna post something about buying cymbals on ebay.I bought a 22" in mehmet with rivets and I am quite happy with it; although I would not mind if it was a bit thinner.

I paid 125$ for it so even if I did not like it I would not be shedding many tears. One thing I always do is remove all logos from cymbals and I have had some drummers comment on the istanbul mehmet......but again for 125 clams.....c,mon.

I bought it to replace a fairly thin 24" a/zildjian that I put rivets in.I paid 60$ for that cymbal many years ago at a pawn shop near detroit. It is good that there are so many cymbal makers these days. When I was a kid there was one zildjian and they were expensive, then came paiste ; but now there is a lot of goos stuff out there.

I've 13 agop Regulars (older ones) . The 13's should have a bit more cut than a lot of the 14's and they are (still) quiet. Should work out good for you.
