spider web cracks, when to drill

if i've missed the opportunity to file out a crack emanating from the mounting hole (when i got the cymbal the crack was about 1/2 cm long) what kind of repair should i do, if any? if i drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack, theoretically arresting further development of the crack, do i need to file it out/dremmel it so more cracks don't spin off from the original?

yes you always need to dress the drill hole...but usually stop drilling may not be a for sure fix..it's hard to tell if you really got the end of the crack??? use a strong magnifying glass and/or use a larger bit..
